Dermaplaning is one of the best-kept secrets for celebrities hitting the red carpet, it gives skin an extra oomph!
What is Dermaplaning?
Dermaplaning is where we exfoliate the top layer of skin (dead skin), using a surgical blade to reveal glowing new skin.
Dermaplaning is great for exfoliation and has the benefit of removing the vellus hair on the face. This allows skincare to penetrate more effectively. It also makes the skin smoother allowing make-up application with a flawless finish.
The dermaplaning treatment can take around 45 mins and can be enjoyed as a stand-alone treatment or in combination with our Goddess Facial or Bespoke Facial. Patients often describe the experience as a light scratching sensation and comment on how relaxing it is.
We advise that patients have this treatment every 4-6 weeks for best results. Long term results are brighter smoother complexion whilst speeding up cellular turnover for healthier skin.

Dermaplaning FAQs
Can I wear make-up after treatment?
Yes, applying make-up after treatment is ok, we do advise that the brushes/sponges used have been clean and are free of bacteria to avoid break outs.
Can dermaplaning cause spots?
No, dermaplaning doesn’t cause spots. Bacteria on the skin causes spots. However, as we have removed the dead skin, this can allow products and bacteria to penetrate the skin more easily.
What will I look like after treatment?
Some patients with sensitive skin will experience mild redness, this should subside within 12-24 hours, over all most patients will have an improved skin radiance.
What are the risks with dermaplaning?
The risks are minimal and don’t happen often. As we use a surgical blade there is a risk of scraping or small nicks in the skin, like what you may experience using a razor. All patients are required to complete a consent form where all the risks are explained.
Who can’t have dermaplaning?
We would advise anyone who has active acne, rosacea, diabetes, skin cancer, broken or reactive skin shouldn’t have dermaplaning until the skin is healed. There are better-suited treatments available for these skin concerns and so having a consult with Nurse Dawn will be able to provide you with the best options.
Does hair grow back in dark/thick?
No, the hair will return as normal. If you have any medical conditions that may influence this, then Nurse Dawn will discuss this with you before any treatment is carried out.
Can I have a repeat dermaplaning treatment without waiting 4 weeks?
No, as exfoliating too soon after dermaplaning can cause skin irritation and compromise the skin natural barrier.
